I have found that my skin responses to the Korean skin care better than the big brands from Europe and US. It could be a welcoming news to my bank account, since Korean skin care carries very affordable price tag, as compared to the big brands.

I have tried several BB creams now, including Maybelline, BioEssence, Missha, Etude House, SkinFood, and Skin79 etc, and I find myself loving Skin79.

I have this hypersensitive touch sensory, and I have nearly zero tolerance for stickiness on skin. Most of the BB creams leave a tacky feel after application; Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream dries to a comfortable matt touch. Perhaps that we live in the tropical region, ‘dewy’ look isn’t what we always go for, it somewhat associate with the ‘greasy’ face impression. Then again, that could be just me.

Pearly sheen is great by me, but not shine, I guess.

So, I have officially joined the ‘Snail’ groupie for skin care products. I have no qualms in smearing snail mucus/secretion on my skin. I don’t really understand the repulse towards that though. Then again, know that I am one of those who enjoys bird’s nest dessert, and if you don’t already know, bird’s nest is really made of the bird’s saliva. If I am fine with ingesting bird’s saliva, I have no problem smearing assuming-to-be-processed-hygienically snail’s mucus on the skin, as long as the product doesn’t smell bad.

I noticed that Skin79 has introduced the Snail Nutrition BB cream, after reasonably intensive online research, I ordered online just two days before we left for Kota Kinabalu. It arrived yesterday from South Korea.

I have tried other series of Skin79 BB creams, but I am only reviewing and comparing the Hot Pink, Vital, and Snail Nutrition series today.

(Refer to the photos for the color comparison)

I am NC15 skin color shade, yellow undertones.

I bought from:

I am not sure if they do what they claim in terms of skin improvement benefits. I don’t use the BB cream frequently enough and I do use other skin care products to take care of other concerns.

Personally, I would stick with Hot Pink. I belong to the fairer tropical Asian skin with yellow undertones (NC15).

I think the more accurate critics should come from a man who knows nearly nothing about cosmetics – the husband, to be precise, my husband, because he knows I take even the most brutal truth better than sugar-coated comment (which confuses me much!).

VITAL BB CREAM – RESPONSE:

The husband noticed immediately and asked, ‘Why do you put on make up? Are you going somewhere?’.

If you look at the photo with my arm smeared with the 3 products, you may think that Vital BB cream seems to blend more naturally into my skin tone. The fact is that the skin on our face is possibly thinner, so ‘pinkish’ undertone shows through the surface skin, therefore, the Vital yellow cream casts a differentiating tone after application, which is not obvious on the arm.

The yellow tone and possibly the higher SPF properties in Vital does what it claims – brightens, and I believe that it attributes to the sheen after application. I am not particularly comfortable with the ‘pasty’ look though.

That said, if you apply the cream on your face and neck (which I am also uncomfortable with, because it tends to stain the collar) and set it with loose powder, it may actually be a great cream in place of foundation.

SNAIL NUTRITION BB CREAM – RESPONSE:

The husband called me ‘Little white face’. I noticed the difference between my face and neck, so I asked if I was too white. He said that it was more pink than white. He is right, when I smear the creams on my arm for comparison, it is clear that the Snail cream gives a pinkish shade.

This might suit the Caucasian skin better, because of the pink undertones.

HOT PINK BB CREAM – RESPONSE:

So I asked if the one I wore during our vacation in Kota Kinabalu was a more natural shade? (I never thought of asking him before!) He just widened his eyes and said, ‘I didn’t notice you were wearing it!’. There you have it, we have a winner! It blends in very well with my NC15 skin briefly after application. It doesn’t cover the skin imperfections well, but it does help to even the skin tone and present a satisfactory overall image.

All of the Skin79 BB creams (in fact, most of the BB creams, regardless of brands) are scented, which are acceptable to me, but some of you may be bothered by it. The scent lingers for a quite a while.

Oh well, I will now wait for my other snail mucus products to arrive – toner and cream from Secret Key!

Hilarious review! Boys are the perfect test subjects as they can be brutally honest!

You can say that again! Then again, brutal honesty is better than sugar-coated lie, IMHO. 😛

Have you say!
