Secret Key Snail + EGF toner and cream | Product Review

I was looking for a toner before the current one runs out. I am late-comer in chasing Korean skin care products, but hey, at least I am on the wagon now!

When I searched for a Korean brand’s toner, I saw the snail toner. I have read about that before, and I don’t really understand the hoo-ha about the snail mucus part. I mean, I ingest bird’s nest, what’s the big deal with smearing snail mucus on the skin? In case your mind derails and runs too wildly, the manufacturers don’t smash or ground the snails. The mucus is picked up after the snail passes and leaves the mucus behind.

Now that we have cleared the air about the snail, let’s take a look at the cream, shall we?

Product – Snail + EGF Repairing Toner

1. Vital and resilient skin (from snail slime filtrate)

2. Moisturizing effect and protection (from Beta-Glucan element and Argania spinosa kernel oil)

3. Brightening effect (from organic vegetable properties like Rubus Coreanus, carrots, cucumbers, and rice extract)

4. Contributing vitality to fatigued skin (from pumpkin extract, tomato, broccoli)

Recommended for:

  • Dry skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Dull skin
  • Elasticity-needed
  • Problems-prone skin

Product – Snail + EGF Repairing Cream

1. Vital and resilient skin (from snail slime filtrate)

2. Moisturizing effect and protection (from Beta-Glucan element and Argania spinosa kernel oil)

3. Healthy and elastic skin (from caviar extract)

4. Low skin irritation and remarkable absorbability (from macadamia oil)

The facial product also comes in gel form which is said to suit oily skin better. I have combination skin, but I go for the cream due to my undesired history with gel based products.

There are tons of snail products now, I don’t remember why I decided on Secret Key, but I must have thought it was the most ideal product to try out. I think I read something about other brands being sticky, that turned me off.

I have used the cream and toner for 2 weeks now. I am happy to report that they don’t break me out. I am also happy to report that I do like them much.

I wasn’t curious about the scent, more Korean skin care products are ‘perfume’ scented, and I am not particularly repulsive to any of them yet. The toner and the cream have pleasant scent.

1. Toner – It feels more like essence. Unlike the usual watery toner, this toner has a little more ‘weight’ in the liquid and it glides on the skin much smoothly.

2. Cream – rich and creamy texture. Smooths on the skin very easily. I alway pat the product into the skin. The cream absorbs quickly, leaving a silky touch. No stickiness at all.

1. Toner – I like this toner a lot. You know how some toners wipe your skin so clean, it leaves a tight after-wipe tension? This doesn’t, it really feels like essence.

2. Cream – I use the cream on the face very sparingly as day cream (it turns out that my plan to use the Nature Republic Aloe Vera gel in the day is not going to happen. My face is not adapting well with gel based products, mini bumps started to show after a few days’ use, but the gel works well for other parts of my skin), followed by HERA sun mate daily SPF35. I use the cream in the night too, and pat in more in the areas that are dryer.

I do think it has repairing properties. The mini bumps that I developed from the Aloe gel and Philosophy – Hope in Jar (who knows! My skin rejects that too!) subsided within hours after I apply the Secret Key snail cream! I haven’t used it long enough to see more marked results, (especially that I had disrupted the routine with other products in the day) but I am liking the products and will continue to use them – or not, I am really curious to try out brands too! Remember not to use the cream too much if you have oily skin or in the day, it can be a tad too rich.

I ordered online, click through the link that I provided in this page to the product page. You are able to have it delivered to your Korean address since the site is global. The seller is located in South Korea too.
