My Herbalife Formula 1 Milk Shake | How-to

As mentioned in the earlier post (you want to read that to see the astounding price and sizes comparison), I am incorporating Herbalife formula 1 shake mix into my weight management regime. I have been replacing breakfast and lunch with the shake for a week now – minus Saturday, since it’s soup day, so I only replace breakfast with the shake while preparing the ingredients for the soup.

The Missy’s Milk Shake – which is perfectly tasty!

[Equipment / Ingredients]

1. Shake bottle (or just any bottle that has a tight lid, preferably with measurement markings); better still, get the shake bottle with a wire whisk ball made of surgical steel (there is a popular brand blenderball, just google for it)

2. Herbalife Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix

3. Anlene low-fat, high calcium milk powder; or use non/low-fat milk

4. Water (omit if using milk)

5. Optional – fruits (better with french vanilla flavor; or strawberry flavor; my mum finds it equally tasty using fruit juices together with chocolate flavor shake mix though)

You can find some accessories here: (They don’t have the whisk ball shake bottle though)

[Steps]

1. Drop the whisk ball into the bottle

2. Add 4 tablespoons of Anlene milk powder

3. Add 350cc of water (250-300cc for creamier shake, I like it thinner)

4. Add 2 heaping scoops (it means don’t level the powder off the spoon) of shake mix

5. Put on the lid (make sure it’s tightly closed)

6. Shake away!

The whisk ball is really helpful in blending the contents more effortlessly.

[The Missy’s Experience To-date]

1. Fullness – indeed, I don’t feel hungry after the milk shake. I usually take the first milk shake at around 9am, and I only begin to feel a little hungry at around 11:30am, which I will then make another milk shake (of another flavor). We are encouraged to have fruits and vegetables, so, if I feel hungry and have time, I will have some pears at around 3-4pm.

2. Bowel movement – Day 1 & 2 went by without much changes for me; Day 3 was when the stool became softer and runny, I read that it is common to experience diarrhea for the first few days, I only had 2 episodes on day 3. The rest of the week continues to go by with great bowel movement – note that I rarely have problem in that department anyway. You might also let out gas more frequently, at least for me. I can’t say how long will it be, since I am just slightly past a week with this new diet plan.

3. Thirst – I am not entirely sure if it attributes to dry mouth because I am currently on cocktail of heavy medications for my skin allergies. I do think it does, because before I started with the shake, I was already on the same medication, and I didn’t experience extra thirst; I do need to drink more fluid after I started with the shake diet. I guess that helps in filling up the fullness too?

4. Weight loss – seriously, I don’t think I should lose much weight in a week. See, the shake mix is rather high in sugar, and it makes sense. It’s a meal replacement, not supplement (so, be very careful, if you take this on top of regular meal, you might end up gaining more weight), so it is supposed to provide enough energy to get you going for the day.

5. Sustainability – if it proves to be effective, I think it scores very well for me to continue the program since it tastes really good, and I actually look forward to the milk shake. I have tried chocolate, strawberry, and french vanilla, and they taste equally good. I have another flavor – cookies and cream (not available in Singapore) that I am so looking forward to try! The problem with powder shake is that some high fibre powder mix tastes really horrible, it is very challenging to stay in the program, yes? With this, I am quite confident that it will take much longer for me to grow sick of it. (I happen to be the kind who takes a long time to be sick of something)

I am quite excited to see if this works, because I don’t really have hunger pangs. My dinner is usually salad with chicken/fish – right, I should try to replace the frozen processed chicken pieces, but I really don’t have the talent for cooking, nor the time.

I bought my shake mix and others (that my mum is taking) from this seller:

If you are on this weight management plan, have you had any good results yet? My mum swears by the Aloe Vera concentrate to aid in her gastric discomfort and she drinks the herbal tea mix daily too – she says it helps in weight management too. I am not staring on the herbal tea or other extras, I only have so much time in a day, so I want to keep it simple and sustainable.

Will update after a month, or more? I won’t have those numbers for kg lost though. I stop getting obsessed with the number monitoring so that I lead a happier life, that said, I am not denying of my gained weight either, I just don’t want to harp on the 500gm and get upset over it.
