I tried the Opal one minute intensive hair mask, and I love it! I decided to stock up on the Anti-Grease shampoo, try the hair tonic, and to get the Opal regular hair mask (in place of my conditioner).
Yanagiya Hair Tonic
Highly Recommended by Da S in her first beauty book.
Yanagiya Hair Tonic contains several natural organic plants extract like herbs which help to prevent hair loss and early hair fall and breakage.
It also moisturizes scalp, stimulates hair growth, and prevents itch and dandruff with a refreshing sensation.
An increase of blood circulation to the hair follicle is triggered resulting in the eventual hair regeneration.
Direction: Apply to cleanse and towel dry hair 2-3 times a day. Gently massage the scalp by fingertips until the tonic is fully absorbed. Leave to dry or blow dry hair.
Suitable for both Male and Female with oily scalp, itchy scalp, dandruff or hair loss problem or simply to prevent hair loss and hair fall problem. Cool Menthol feeling most suitable for Singapore hot weather.
The Missy’s Say:
I have been using it for a few weeks now. No noticeable results though.
Scent: I really don’t like the smell of it, not exactly herbal, and it reminds me of the men’s hair styling oil that was super popular in the 80s.
Treating Oily Scalp: Unfortunately, I have to say, it’s not working too well for me. I should be able to see some improvement by now, instead, I have a feeling that the hair tonic oils up my hair badly, than before. I will still try to finish the bottle though.
Also, it is a little confusing about what it exactly does. It says that ‘It also moisturizes scalp, stimulates hair growth, and prevents itch and dandruff with a refreshing sensation.’ and ‘Suitable for both Male and Female with oily scalp’. I really doubt it can moisturize and treat oily scalp at the same time, can it? I am not being sarcastic here, I am genuinely confused.
Refreshing sensation: That works momentarily. The mentol does provide temporarily coolness to the scalp.
Repurchase? Highly unlikely.
Yanagiya Anti Grease Shampoo – I ordered extra 3 bottles before my current bottle finishes, it’s a bad idea. I reordered the 2nd batch too soon, and found that the shampoo doesn’t work for me. It causes my scalp to grease up quicker than before, and makes my fine hair very flat. The seller was very kind to allow me to exchange for the Opal hair mask instead, and it’s only reasonable that I paid for the postage.
Opal Regular Hair Treatment Mask
This hair treatment has nutrients NaPCA, aloe vera, Vitamin B5 and Keratin Protein. They perform selectively and treat hair according to the degree of damage. The conditioning agents help to detangle hair and make it more manageable.
It leaves hair light, with increased body and better manageability.
The Missy’s say:
Scent: similar to the intensive repair mask, it smells great! It’s a little strong if you sniff it off the tube, but it leaves a nice ‘professional salon grade’ smell on your hair.
Effects: A little goes a long way, and remember to only apply at least 2-3 inches away from your scalp (this rule applies to all hair conditioner, except for those treatments specially designed to treat scalp problem). It leaves hair soft and untangled. I don’t have split ends, it’s just preventive measure to always keep my hair in good condition.
Tips: I have long hair, and after shampooing, I squeeze about a 3cm diameter size of the treatment mask onto the palm, rub (to spread out) with both palms, hold my wet hair (around the neck area) with one hand and coil the ends up with my other hand, and rub the contents into that ‘bunch’ of hair. The water in the hair helps to distribute the treatment mask more evenly. Then, I use my fingers to comb through the hair (still avoiding the scalp), and when satisfied that the hair is conditioned, I leave it for a minute, and rinse thoroughly.
Repurchase? Yes, definitely!
