What did you have for lunch today? I normally have wholemeal biscuits with black tea. Today, my mother decided to cook for lunch. We had fried vegetarian bee hoon.
See, I don’t always like Asian fried food, they tend to be too oily, and my gastric doesn’t do great with excessive oil. The lunch was tasty with home-cooked chili and vegetarian anchovies. Problem is, it’s a tad oily.
We only cook using olive oil (light – subtle taste, perfect for cooking; the extra virgin will be great as dressing and dips), but there is a general misconception that olive oil is healthy. Olive oil is healthier, not healthy. It is important to distinguish between the two.
So, I gave the mother a little education about this. True enough, she replied, ‘It’s olive oil, it’s healthy’.
Olive oil is a great substitute for other vegetable oil, and it’s healthier and better for heart, but only if used in moderation. Olive oil can make you fat too, and being overweight can result in many healthy problems.

I have an upcoming review to make on the Laneige multi-cleanser. It came in yesterday, so I am going to try this out for a few more days before posting the review. The first has proven to be squeaky clean though. (This is the authentic Laneige, the logo has changed subtly since months ago – previously, the ‘i’ has a small ‘tick’ on the top)
